Elena Pulidori, member of Thermolab, recently spent two months in Antarctica at Concordia Station as part of the SPREAD project, thanks to the involvement and support of Prof. Giannarelli, contributing to research activities in one of the most remote and scientifically significant environments on Earth.
During her stay at the French-Italian Concordia Station, located on the Antarctic Plateau at an altitude of over 3,200 meters, her work focused on the sampling of snow and ice. The collected samples will be analyzed to assess and better understand the contribution of local activities to environmental pollution around the Concordia base, supporting the broader objectives of the SPREAD project.
Conducting research under the extreme environmental conditions of Antarctica requires strong technical expertise, adaptability, and close collaboration within an international team. This experience represents an important scientific and professional milestone, while further strengthening Thermolab’s involvement in high-impact research carried out in unique and challenging environments.
